Application deadline is April 1st, 2003. The following
steps concern the registration process. If any of the following
requirements are missing, the registration packet will be considered
incomplete.
Registration Information:
- The payment of $250.00 must be submitted
with the completed registration forms by April 15. Payment is
only required if your team is accepted as a competitive team.
- It is mandatory to submit a videotape 3-5
minutes in length of the current team's performance. Videotapes
must be received by April 1. All the participants must be included
in the performance videotaped. Videotapes will not be mailed back.
- Teams must be comprised of at least 4 people
but no more than 16.
- An individual may not perform in more than
one act at Bruin Bhangra, including Exhibitions.
- The UCLA Bhangra Team will select twelve
teams to compete in the show.
- UCLA Bhangra Team will NOT be a competitive
item in this year's competition.
Judging:
- Each team is eligible to bring in its own judge
upon receipt of a completed registration form and a completed
judge's application form by the UCLA Bhangra Team no later than
April 1. Omission of any of these two requirements will disqualify
a team from bringing in its own judge.
- Any completed registration form or completed judge's
application form received after April 1 will immediately disqualify
a team competing in Bruin Bhangra 2003, no exceptions.
- If a completed judge's application form is received
by April 1, Bruin Bhangra 2003 event coordinators will approve
the team's judge based on merit and proof of expertise. If a judge
is not approved, your team will not be allowed to resubmit a judge.
Performance:
- Maximum Time Limit -- 8 minutes. There will be
heavy penalties on teams that exceed this time limit. For every
15 seconds gone over, 5 points will be deducted from the team's
overall score. Time starts as soon as your music begins (including
any instrumental or vocal introductions).
- Fire and smoke machines are strictly prohibited.
NO glitter, magic dust, hay, or fog will be allowed. The stage
must be in the same condition before and after a team's performance.
Causing damage to the stage floor is prohibited. Teams will be
liable for any fees related to structural or surface damage to
the floor.
- Each team must submit 3 cued copies of their music
(preferably 2 on CD). There should only be one track on the performance
CD. Any extraneous tracks must be cut from the CD. The CD must
be submitted by at least May 2nd. We recommend that each team
bring an extra CD on the day of the competition in case of any
complications. UCLA Bhangra Team retains the rights to the music
and has the right to officially publish, record, copy, and reproduce
any CD submitted for competition to Bruin Bhangra. The CD will
be reproduced with credits for each track going to the team who
submitted their CD for the competition.
